Blog # 18 – Why I Upgraded from Garmin Fenix 5X to Garmin Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar
Upgrade from Garmin Fenix 5x to Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar

As a dedicated fitness enthusiast and outdoor adventurer, my Garmin Fenix 5X had been my loyal companion for years. It had tracked my runs, hikes, swims, and even helped me navigate through unfamiliar terrains. However, the time came when I felt the need for an upgrade, and the Garmin Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar seemed like the perfect choice. In this blog post, I'll walk you through the key differences between my old Fenix 5X and the impressive Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar, and share the reasons that drove me to make the switch.

Design and Build:

The first noticeable difference is the Fenix 7X Pro's titanium bezel, which not only adds a touch of elegance but also enhances durability. The Power Sapphireâ„¢ lens is a significant upgrade over the Fenix 5X, promising improved scratch resistance and longevity. The first look after unboxing was "Love at first sight". Check the unboxing video below.

Display:

The Fenix 7X Pro boasts a higher-resolution display, with a resolution of 280 x 280 pixels. This means crisper visuals and better visibility in various lighting conditions, making it even easier to glance at my data while on the move. Also it gives colorful display during the activity and colors make PAINFUL things BETTER :). Also the touch screen is one of the feature which I missed a lot when I used to wear Apple watch. Even though this touchscreen sucks when you are doing an activity which involves water or your hands get too sweaty but during non fitness activity times, this touch screen keeps the watch alive 🙂

Battery Life:

One of the most compelling reasons for my upgrade was the Fenix 7X Pro's impressive battery life. With solar charging capabilities, it can last up to 28 days in smartwatch mode, a significant improvement over the Fenix 5X. The extended battery life, especially during outdoor adventures, was a game-changer for me. Now I have not yet tested the battery life as its just 1 day. But as per my use, I keep the heart rate monitoring on 24 hours a days and during the activity, I have selected Auto Satellite selection. So hopefully in my review blog probably after a month, I will be able to confirm how long it can last.

Health and Wellness Monitoring:

The Fenix 7X Pro introduces the "Body Batteryâ„¢ Energy Monitor," a feature absent in the Fenix 5X. This offers valuable insights into my energy levels throughout the day, helping me optimize my workouts and recovery. I hope these features will help me for my daily fitness routine.

Sensors:

The Fenix 7X Pro comes equipped with a Pulse Ox blood oxygen saturation monitor, offering a deeper level of health monitoring. Additionally, it features a thermometer and ambient light sensor, enhancing its versatility for various outdoor activities. You can buy the Garmin Fenix 7x Pro Sapphire Solar from Amazon USA.

Smart Features:

Improved connectivity options, advanced smart features, and compatibility with Garmin Connectâ„¢ Mobile make the Fenix 7X Pro a better companion for staying connected on the go.

Safety and Tracking Features:

While both watches have incident detection and live tracking, the Fenix 7X Pro may offer more advanced safety and tracking features, adding an extra layer of security during my outdoor escapades.

Activity Tracking:

The Fenix 7X Pro continues to support a wide range of activities, but it may provide more advanced metrics and features in some profiles, making it an even more versatile fitness companion. As I did my first run wearing this magnificent piece of gadget, it actually gave me suggestion what type of run I should do based on the data it gathered through my Garmin profile. This feature was missing in Fenix 5X. It also have indoor, virtual & track run option which I really missed during Corona times as I used to run inside my apartment for 30 to 50 minutes wearing my Fenix 5x.

Cycling and Swimming Features:

For cyclists and swimmers, the Fenix 7X Pro offers more advanced metrics and compatibility with accessories, enhancing the overall training experience. It has included different types of cycling activities for e.g, it has separate option for Gravel bike & cyclocross.

Both watches are compatible with the Toe-to-Toeâ„¢ Challenges app, making them great for family fitness challenges.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, while my Garmin Fenix 5X had served me well over the years, the Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar represented a significant leap forward in terms of design, features, and functionality. The enhanced battery life, improved sensors, and advanced health monitoring features made it a compelling choice for my active lifestyle.

The decision to upgrade wasn't solely about having the latest tech; it was about having a more reliable and feature-rich tool to support my fitness goals and outdoor adventures. With the Fenix 7X Pro on my wrist, I'm more equipped than ever to explore new trails, conquer new challenges, and track my progress along the way.

As technology continues to advance, so does our ability to push our limits and explore the world around us. For me, the upgrade to the Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar was a step in that direction, and I'm excited to see where it takes me on my fitness journey.
