Running has never been just about kilometers for me.

Since 2016, running has been my personal escape — a way to step away from the noise of the world, clear my mind, and quietly take care of my mental health. No meetings, no deadlines, no distractions — just breath, rhythm, and the road ahead.

The Muscat Marathon holds a very special place in that journey.

I first became part of this event in 2017, and over the years, it became more than an annual race. It became a marker of time, growth, and consistency. From the full marathon to half marathons10K5K, and even fun runs, I’ve experienced every format it had to offer — each one carrying its own memories, struggles, and small victories.

This year’s Muscat Marathon Half Marathon felt different.

Crossing the finish line this time was emotional, not because of pace or timing, but because it may be my last participation. With my contract coming to an end and plans to move out after my kids complete their school session, this race quietly felt like a farewell.

A farewell to early morning long runs along Muscat roads is coming on the way.

A farewell to race bib collections, nervous starts, and familiar routes as this might be the last major event before leaving Oman.

And perhaps, an upcoming farewell to a city that witnessed some of my strongest years — both professionally and personally this hits hardest as this have been my second home since last 16+ years. As the time of exit coming near, the emotions getting higher and higher day by day.

Running taught me discipline, patience, and resilience. It kept me grounded during stressful phases of life and reminded me that progress doesn’t always need applause — it just needs consistency.

No matter where I go next, running will remain a part of my life. Locations may change, races may change — but the habit, the mindset, and the peace it brings will remain the same.

Thank you, Muscat Marathon, for being part of my journey for almost a decade.

This may be a goodbye to this event— but hopefully it’s certainly not the end.
